Meta Plans $800M data center in Alabama
Meta Platforms, the parent company of Facebook, unveiled its ambitious plan on Thursday to establish an $800 million data center in Montgomery, marking the state's second facility of its kind. This strategic initiative is poised to generate significant economic opportunities, boasting the creation of 100 operational positions and over 1,000 jobs in construction during the site's development phase.
Alabama Governor Kay Ivey expressed her pride in the state's support for Meta, emphasizing her unique distinction in announcing two Meta sites. Positioned along Interstate 65 in Montgomery, adjacent to the Hyundai automotive assembly plant, the forthcoming data center has received the green light for construction.
Upon completion, this state-of-the-art facility will join Meta's extensive network as its 24th data hub and the 20th in the United States.
