Sanctions imposed on Pakistan induced more vigor in our engineering defence manufacturers who over a period of time have prevailed over all impediments by meeting the high quality demand of the Army which is in high state of alert, thus further stretching its GSRs to unimaginable limits.
The users of defence equipment have never lost sight of valued scientists /engineers who have been developing adding value to defence products. To meet very high standards of the Pakistan Army the manufacturers keep striving for excellence.
For the defence product manufacturers, the soldier is the customer and the “Customer is the King" who is and will never be disappointed whether its peace, war, or playground. Pakistan’s textile, clothing, leather and sports gear industry is “one of the best in the world”, supports the soldiers from battle field dress and equipment to leisure.

Keeping in view the strategic importance of Pakistan and merging role of armed forces, Defence Export Promotion Organisation (DEPO) is regularly organizing defense exhibition in the name of “IDEAS” means ‘International Defense Exhibition and Seminar’. The core purpose of the event is to enhance the export potential of the indigenous defence products of Pakistan as well as image building of Pakistan as a modern, progressive and tolerant state that is willing to co-exist peacefully with the international community.
The initiative of IDEAS leads to providing opportunity to our defence industry, both in public and private sectors, to display their products and interact directly with the defence industry of the developed world. Furthermore this platform also provides an international platform to convey our view point/s on security issues concerning Pakistan. The execution of ‘IDEAS’ also created an opportunity to reinforce our diplomatic efforts in the realm of defence diplomacy.
With the passage of time, IDEAS has significantly contributed towards promoting strategic partnership with our friends and has served to achieve the shared objectives of peace and stability in the region.
IDEAS slogan “Arms for Peace” reflects Pakistan’s principle stand that a more balanced arms equation amongst neighboring countries acts as an effective prevention. It provides a platform to showcase technology of tomorrow and innovations in defence with variety of weapon systems and items of equipment on display.
It is a market place of innovative ideas and also brings together international manufacturers and suppliers of products and services to explore the opportunities for cooperation in the field of defence.
Some of the major indigenously developed products showcased during IDEAS – 2014, included
- Main Battle Tank Al–Khalid
