DEPO
The defense industry of Pakistan, under the Ministry of Defense Production, was created in September 1951 to promote and coordinate the patchwork of military production facilities that have developed since independence.
DEFENCE SOLUTION
During colonial rule, sixteen ordnance factories were established in the sub-continent. After the creation of Pakistan in 1947, all those sixteen factories fell to Indian share since none of them was located in the areas forming Pakistan. Thus, newly-created Pakistan emerged with a fragile state apparatus and rudimentary Armed Forces with no infrastructure for arms, equipment or ammunition manufacturing facility, to meet the security challenges. Defence Production activities in Pakistan started in 1951 with the establishment of Pakistan Ordnance Factories (POF) at Wah, with the cooperation of British Royal Ordnance. With the passage of time, development in technology and resources, the defense and aviation industry infrastructure has grown to an extent where the Public and Private organizations can meet the requirements of Pakistan Defense Forces very efficiently. Today, there are over 20 major Public Sector Organizations and over 100 Private Sector firms engaged in the manufacturing of defense related products, which are internationally recognized for quality, reliability and competitive prices. The Private firms have achieved an accelerated development in the manufacturing capabilities, facilities and capacities to augment Public Sector for indigenous production, using the latest technological tools. Both the Public and Private firms are abreast of the need and meeting the landmarks with full zeal and enthusiasm.
LAND SYSTEM
Tank Al Khalid is the latest cost effective achievement, which can be compared with any modern tanks in the world. Tank Al-Zarrar and APC SAAD are the symbol of quality and excellence. POF Eye is a special purpose hand held weapon system. Small arms, ammunition, large caliber requirements and missile systems including relieving of missiles are the feats of the engineering sector, which is always ready to undertake any challenge under any condition. Winning the confidence of the soldier has always been a challenging task, which is the objective of a stable and mature defense manufacturing line. Our manufacturers have never let down the soldiers be it in the scorching heat in the dusty rugged desert or the snow clad Siachin Glacier with minus 40 degrees of temperature.
Sanctions imposed on Pakistan have further induced more vigor in our engineering defense manufacturers who over a period of time have prevailed over all impediments by meeting the high quality demand of the Army which is in high state of alert, thus further stretching its GSRs to unimaginable limits. The users of defense equipment have never lost sight of valued engineers who have been developing adding value to defense products for the ground forces. To meet very high standards of the Pakistan Army the manufacturer keeps striving for excellence. For the defense product manufacturers, the soldier is the customer and the “Customer is the King” who is and will never be disappointed whether it's peace, war, or playground. Our textile, clothing, leather and sports gear industry is “one of the best in the world”, supporting the soldiers from battlefield dress and equipment to leisure.
NAVAL SYSTEMS
After the independence, Pakistan Navy has come a long way from a small flotilla of ships to a complete fleet. Pakistan Navy now consists of fully modernized ships with state of the art equipment and weapon system, latest conventional submarines, state of art MCMVs and indigenously built missile boats, fast patrol crafts and midgets submarines. PN Dockyard is fully geared-up to meet the maintenance needs of the Pakistani Fleet. Continued modernization of dockyard workshops to keep pace with the change of technology and induction of the system of PN platforms has been the strength of PN planners.
Advanced Engineering and Research Organization (AERO) supplementing the weapons demand met by precision engineering work can never be neglected. KS&EW established in the mid-fifties is the only Heavy Engineering Industry of the country that is catering for Shipbuilding, Ship repair and heavy engineering requirements in south Pakistan. It is the first Public Sector Organization who achieved ISO 9000 certification in 1996 and is now certified in ISO 9001:2008, ISO 14001:2004 & OHSAS 18001:2007 accredited from UKAS through Lloyd’s Register. KS&EW as an autonomous commercial organization under the Ministry of Defense Production, Govt. of Pakistan has played a historical role in transferring of technologies and broadening the industrial base of the country. With the recent upgrading of the infrastructure / facilities and having over 2000 trained and efficient workforce, KS&EW today is fully capable to meet the future challenges of the shipbuilding and other heavy industries in Pakistan. In the early eighties PN Dockyard also undertook limited construction of small to medium size ships. Indigenous construction of modern OPVs, Missile Boats, state of the art MCMVs and above all Agosta 90B submarines has put PN on the road of self - reliance. Retrofitting of modern ships and submarines at PN Dockyard is providing cost effective maintenance to the fleet units. Frigate is a multi-mission ship equipped with state of the art weapons and senses. Being a four - dimension service, PN also maintains a strong air arm. PNS Mehran has maintenance facilities for maritime patrol aircrafts and helicopters including training simulators available for use by friendly countries.

AIR SYSTEMS
A large part of the aviation industry in Pakistan is located around the Aviation City, Kamra where sprawling facilities of the Pakistan Aeronautical Complex are located. PAC Kamra today with support of various vendors in the private sector can meet most of eastern and western origin equipment. JF17 Thunder and Super Mushshak, K-8 are the proven achievements of PAC Kamra in collaboration with other parties. If you are looking for a cost - effective solution to your air force and general aviation we have the ability to address it in a most efficient manner. The advanced jet trainer K-8 and JF-17 Thunder are co - developed projects of Pakistan and China.

PAC Kamra (AMF) is the co-producer of the aircraft, which fits into the advance aircrew - training programme of most of the air forces of the world. The Super Mushshak(SMK) is an upgraded version of the Mushshak (MSK) aircraft with a powerful six cylinder 260 HP engine and on ground air conditioning with optional Glass cockpit provisioning. UAV Uqab is state of the art equipment with the latest technology.
