Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is one of the most legendary places on earth. It is gateway to the Subcontinent, since times immemorial, it has witnessed migration-waves of people, campaigns of conquerors, flow of innumerable caravans of commerce, influx of intellectuals, artists, poets and saints from the north into its fertile valleys and onwards to the plains of the Punjab, Sindh and beyond the Indus to South Asia.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is largely located on the Iranian plateau and Eurasian land plate, while peripheral eastern regions are located near the Indian subcontinent and this has led to seismic activity in the past. It covers an area of 74,521 km² (28,773 sq mi). Geographically the province could be divided into two zones: the northern one extending from the ranges of the Hindu Kush to the borders of Peshawar basin; and the southern one extending from Peshawar to the Derajat basin. 

The Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has established Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Board of Investment and Trade (KP-BOIT) to help in creating an enabling environment and to achieve economic prosperity and growth by attracting local as well as foreign investment in the Province. KP-BOIT has brought together dynamic Board members and actuated a team that comprises eminent personnel of public and private sectors. Mr. Mohsin Aziz, The prominent industrialist of the Province is the Vice Chairman of KP-BOIT who is monitoring the activities of the Board.

Modernization of Ayubia Chair lift Resort:

The resort of Ayubia is located in Galliat, Hazara Division, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.  Galliat is a narrow mountainous strip  situated  roughly 50-80 KM to the North - East of Islamabad, the capital city of Pakistan extending on both sides of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa - Punjab border, between  Abbottabad and Murree. It is one of the most frequently  visited  destination  by  large  number  of tourists  in  all  seasons due to its round the year accessibility except few days in winter due to heavy snowfall. The area is well connected by all weather metalled road. Ayubia is also surrounded by other beautiful spots including Nathiagali, Changla Gali and Khaira Gali.

The existing resort comprises Chairlift at Ayubia which was  installed in year 1965 by the Government of Pakistan with small parks at both ends. The Chairlift has outlived its useful life and needs to be replaced with modern and international standard Chairlift. Moreover, the  vast open lands being  an ideal tourist location also needs to be  developed. For this purpose the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has accordingly decided to invite the private sector for modernization of existing Ayubia Chairlift and the development of the tourist resort.

Ayubia is already the most famous and frequently visited destination by large number of tourists especially for the Chairlift. Investors can earn significant revenue by choosing for the modernization of this chairlift resort. Development of recreational and entertainment facilities will add value to the resort. Sporting facilities at the top such as Bob sledge, Tree to Tree hoping, Zip Liners, Winter Skiing Sports, Cycling, Walking &  Horse riding tracks. Restaurants at base and top stations with the option of fifteen (15) to twenty (20) rooms hotel at the top. 

Restaurants offering variety of cuisines, tuck shops, souvenirs gift shops and other entertainment will provide opportunity to the visitors to stay and enjoy their tours. Land will be provided by the Provincial Government on long lease initially for a period of thirty (30) years extendible for further period. KP-BOIT will facilitate investors in obtaining relevant NOCs from the concerned Departments.   

Revival of Malam Jabba Ski Resort Project:

Malam Jabba is one of the top 10 most adventurous ski resorts in the world and the largest ski resort in Pakistan. The resort of Malam Jabba is around 9,000 feet above sea level and is at a 5-hour drive from capital city Islamabad through Swat Valley and is surrounded by beautiful mountainous region.

The project envisions restoration and revival of the resort both for beginners and professionals skiers. The Ski Federation of Pakistan has also shown keen interest to cooperate. 

The project has been awarded to M/s Samsons Group of Companies in transparent manner. The agreement was signed between Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and M/s Samsons Group of Companies on 4th September 2014. The project will be completed at an estimated cost of Rs 3 billion in a period of three years.  

Theme Adventure Park in Galliat:

Blessed with treasures of natural beauty Galliat has not only high mountains of Meranjani and Mushkpuri both at the heights of around 9,500 feet above the sea level but also has combination of spellbound valleys, thick natural forests and plain grassy grounds. Unfolding panoramic views, the nature has so lavishly showered on this area attracting both foreign and local tourists starting from April and going up to October while in winter tourists also visit the destination to enjoy the Snowfall. Other than hiking and horse riding there are no thrilling activities available in the area for the youth and the tourists.

KP-BOIT has conceived a new project of establishing Theme / Adventure Park. Foreign Consultants hailing from UK have visited the valley and finally identified a site at Trehda Lassan Road near Nathiagali. The Theme park will provide facilities including tree to tree hopping, bungee jumping, zip liners, rock climbing etc. The project will be advertised soon for local/foreign investors.
