KPK - Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Snapshot Of 2015

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Board of Investment and Trade (KP-BOIT) is on its way to promote investment and trade climate in the province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with a vision to achieve economic prosperity and position the Province as preferred destination for investors.

Dubai Investment Road Show (IRS)

As a part of continuous efforts KP-BOIT has organized the first ever Investment Road Show (IRS) of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province in Armani Hotel Dubai on 25th February, 2015. The show was highly successful, as large number of professionals, entrepreneurs and investors from different countries including Pakistan, United Kingdom, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Kango and other parts of the globe participated in the event.

Investment opportunities available in various sectors including Energy and Power, Tourism, Housing, Agriculture and Livestock, Mines and Minerals were showcased. Specific investment projects offered to the investors were: -

Energy & Power

• Establishment of Oil Refinery (Up to  50,000 BPD)
• Hydro Power Projects (Capacity 20 MW to 144 MW)
• Gas Turbine Combined Cycle Power 400 MW (400 x 1 or 200-225 x 2)

Tourism

• Theme Adventure Park at Nathiagali
• Tourist Recreation, Sports Facilities and Theme Park at Hund, District Swabi (Indus River on M1 Motorway)
• Tourist Recreation, Sport Facilities and Theme Park at Kheshki, District Nowshera
• Tourism Resort at Takht-i-Bahi, Archeological remains
• Modernization of Ayubia Chairlift

Agriculture & Livestock

• Date Farming and Processing Unit at Dera Ismail Khan
• Sheep Farming at Jaba, Mansehra  (Wool, Mutton Production and Processing)

Mines and Minerals

• Establishment of Cement Plants
• Exploration of Metallic Minerals Resources
• Marble and Granite Quarrying and Processing Plant

Housing

• Model Town Peshawar (Sports City)

Both local and foreign investors have shown keen interest to invest in the Province and signed number of LOIs (Letter of Intent) in different sectors.

Investment Strategy

KP-BOIT is also working on finalizing the "Investment Strategy" with different stakeholders with the aim to attract and promote the investment and business in the Province. It will be the first ever investment strategy of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and will assist to achieve the desired investment climate in the Province.

Participation in Conferences and Seminars

To interact with both local and foreign investors and convey the message about the tremendous potential and resources of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa KP-BOIT is participating in investment conferences and seminars. 

2nd Pakistan Investment Conference held in Islamabad on 4th and 5th November, 2015 was inaugurated by the Prime Minister of Islamic Republic of Pakistan in which investors from different countries participated and exchanged information about various investment opportunities. KP-BOIT made a presentation in the conference and concept of specific projects instead of sector was appreciated by the investors. 

Another event of Pakistan - Belarus Investment forum was held in Islamabad on 10th November, 2015, wherein Prime Minister of Belarus also participated and Government officials and business community of both sides participated and shared information about investment opportunities. KP-BOIT also made a presentation in the forum. In B to B meeting bilateral potentials were discussed and agreed to examine possibility of further cooperation. Belarusian officials and investors appreciated the efforts and investment projects presented by KP-BOIT.

UK Investment Road Show (IRS)

KP-BOIT has also planned to hold the next IRS in UK in February / March, 2016 wherein the mega projects in different sectors including Hydel Generation, Tourism, Oil Refinery, Agriculture & Livestock and Housing will be showcased.

KP-BOIT is all set to take lead by planning a dynamic role in opening up Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and by well coming investors from within Pakistan and from outer World in order to benefit from the hidden treasures and potential of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
