Installation of Ship Lift & Transfer System (SL&TS)

Keeping in view the ever rising demand of Ship Repair work to boost business activities and provide landing facility of submarines, installation of a state of the art SL&TS has been decided.

The project for installation of Ship Lift and Transfer System would enable lifting of ships, submarines and commercial vessels from sea and place them on land in a short time to enable quick repair cycles. The same was approved by the Government. Following are the principal characteristics of the project:

- Lifting capacity of ships         7781 tons

- Platforms dimensions        125 x 32 m

- No. of parking stations        13

Ship Lift & Transfer System

The project, on completion, would enable KS&EW to construct and repair 95% of all types of sea going vessels in Pakistan.

This project is being executed on fast track basis and expected to be completed by end 2016. Once completed, the project has great potential to attract a vast range of clients, both local and foreign for repairs and construction of new warships, submarines and commercial vessels. In particular, business volume of Ship Repair is expected to increase.

CUSTOMER SATISFACTION:

While arrangements are underway for in-house improvements and development of quality culture at grass root level, KS&EW’s skillfulness and dexterity in shipbuilding and heavy engineering works has been recognized and praised from time to time by a number of clients and international classification societies. The recognition by China Shipbuilding trading Co., Ltd., China and Pakistan Navy for construction of F22P Frigates and appreciation by DCN International France for construction of Agosta 90B class submarine pressure sections are worth highlighting.

DESIGN CAPABILITY.

Efforts are being made to achieve the design capability to serve as ship design bureau. In this regard, MOU has been signed with Maritime Technological Complex which will encompass all possible areas of cooperation between the two sides, define the procedures and guidelines for cooperation in the design and construction of Naval Platforms and areas beyond that.
